Drown Out the Noise - Get Some Structure for Your Private Practice Goals

It’s always very interesting to work with business owners that are building out a private practice. I think there is no better reward than to see a practice grow into something that someone has envisioned it to be. I will say, it can be a very tough and often confusing road to get there.

Don’t let anyone tell you that there is one singular method to get where you want to be. Having now said that, also create a strategy to drown out all the noise you will get on your journey to create the practice of your dreams. While there is no singular way to go about creating the private practice that you envision, it is important that you create some structure around what you are doing and where you are going in your private practice business.

All the communities on social media focusing on building private practice can be great sources of information and inspiration, but they can also be a killer to your goals as well when it comes to your private practice. For every question or request for opinion and response you or anyone else throws out there, there will always be recommendations that seem to contradict each other, and yeah, it's true, they do contradict each other.

That really is what I am talking about here, the idea that there is more than one way to go about building your private practice. That all these different opinions can be true and false at the same time. I know, confusing, right? Ever heard the phrase “different strokes for different folks.” All these social media groups about building private practice businesses allow all the “different folks” and “different strokes” to overrun your vision for your business.

I am not saying don’t take part in these groups or even don’t listen to anything said on them, but take it with a grain of salt. It’s always an opinion of someone else who is influenced by their perspective. That perspective may have no place in influencing your business and your vision for your business.

What I am saying is that at the end of the day having a plan to build your private practice business is what is important here. Having a plan that you can follow and put structure around that will guide the direction of your business. That is what we can help you with. We can help you create a strategy and plan that will grow your business taking into account your vision and goals. We can help you know what to expect as your private practice grows using tools that include business modeling and having a solid marketing plan that works for your business, uniquely your business. We can help you develop a strategy that is going to work for you.

There are no right or wrong goals for your business either. I recently worked with a business owner who jokingly said “I want to run my business in a way that allows me to braid hair on the beach and not be here stressing out all the time.” My answer was sure, we can figure that out. Let’s just plan for it and start moving things in that direction.
